The Shaukeens is an Hindi comedy film directed by Abhishek Sharma. The film features Annu Kapoor, Piyush Mishra and Anupam Kher in lead roles alongside Lisa Haydon, while Akshay Kumar features in a cameo playing himself.[1]
The project is a remake of the 1982 film Shaukeen directed by Basu Chatterjee, starring Ashok Kumar, Utpal Dutt, A. K. Hangal, Rati Agnihotri and Mithun Chakraborty. Partly shot in Mauritius, The Shaukeens is released on 7 November 2014.
The shaukeens first two days box office collection 11.25 cr net. [2][3]

Production

The shooting of the film started on April 25, 2014.[5] The actors were shooting in a hotel room scene indoors and in June next schedule started in Mauritius, followed by a schedule in Delhi.[6] Anupam Kher starts shooting in Delhi.[7] Also, musical artist Honey Singh has been signed for a song in the film. Singh has earlier repeatedly collaborated with Akshay Kumar in the past, and after Kumar requested the rapper-performer for one special number for the film, Singh in turn offered him three songs for the film.[8]

Casting

Initially, Nargis Fakhri was signed for the film but then left the project for an unnamed Hollywood film,[9] then, this role offered to Shraddha Kapoor.[10] The part was then offered to Lisa Haydon who accepted. Akshay Kumar signed to play the partner of Haydon's character, a role which Mithun Chakraborty had portrayed in the original film.[11]

The music of the film is composed by Yo Yo Honey Singh, Arko Mukherjee, Hard Kaur & Vikram Negi.
